My first big party for 2011 was Baby B's 2nd birthday. We had a ton of fun and it turned out so cute. I found a ton of cute ideas and combined them to come up with our fun Dr. Seuss Birthday Book Party.
I found these amazing ideas at Kara's Party Ideas Blog. She went all out for her Seuss baby shower but of course I had to simplify. I am a beginner....keep that in mind. This was the first time I didn't give in to the urge to go out and buy the cupcakes and snacks. This time I actually made everything except for Baby B's small cake....I ran out of time.
With it being so close to Christmas, the last thing we wanted was more toys to have to find room for and did I mention Baby B is totally obsessed with books. So, I decided to throw him a book party. I used a Dr. Seuss theme. I love making my own invites, cards and fliers on my computer so I cam up with these cute invites......
I am also redecorating his room into Dr. Seuss so at least I can use some of the decorations in his room later.
I used some really cute ideas from So Wonderful, So Marvelous. The Happy Birthday to You book signing and the m&m guessing game. Thank you for the ideas....this was lots of fun!
I found these cute Dr. Seuss bags at Target ($1 a piece) that I tied a balloon to and made them the centerpieces.
Finally I found these cute, bright little tins at Target ($1) for the goody bags. I filled them full of candy and made these cute little tags with some foam sheets and I used pipe cleaners to attach them to the buckets.
I found the "Happy Birthday" sign at Old Navy of all places, along with the polka dot table cloth. We had "green eggs", deviled eggs with blue food coloring, and "Ham"burgers :) I also served hot dogs, pasta salad, cookies, chips, and we made rice crispy treat pops......the cake pop idea with rice crispy treats. We made little balls of treats, stuck a lollipop stick in the end, dipped them in white chocolate, added sprinkles and stuck them in the freezer for about 5 minutes. They were a hit :) Everyone enjoyed all of the food and a fun time was had by all. I would have to, say as my first big, creative event, it went really well.
